Thermography is the better way to go for early detection. I've known about this for a while now. I will NEVER get a mammogram. It really hit home when my friend told me her story. Here's what happened...&nbsp;
</p><p>Seven or eight years ago her doctor found a small mass in her right breast. It turned out to be benign, but her doctor recommended that she get a mammogram every six months to keep an eye on it. Guess what she was diagnosed with a few months ago?? Crazy huh? Thankfully, they've been able to remove the cancer from her breast, she is not doing any chemo (pure poison), and she's now eating a mostly raw vegetarian, living foods diet to ensure it doesn't come back.&nbsp;
</p><p>I've really been trying to eat that way as much as possible these days. It's what I always said I'd do if, god forbid, I ever was diagnosed with cancer. Why wait though. Now that the weather is getting warmer, it's easier to eat more fresh salads, vegetables, green smoothies and fresh green juices. I've also been dehydrating, making my own crackers, veggie/nut burgers, and even healthy cookies. Did you know most of the "life," nutrients, and essential digestive enzymes are lost in food once it reaches above 112- 118 degrees. You can still have warm food. 110 degrees is hot!  (Think about a hot day in the dessert sun. That will get your food warm.)&nbsp;</p><p>I've been making veggie/nut burgers and wrapping them in purple cabbage leaves, instead of burrito wrappers, with mixed greens, shredded carrot and daikon, avocado, and a variety of spouts. It's fun, simple and yummy, plus, I feel great! Raw dressings are also easy to make in a food processor and are delicious. They easily keep in glass mason jars for a week or two. To eat raw, you just need a few tools and a good book. I like Alyssa Cohen's book "Living on Live Food."&nbsp;

How are you keeping warm? Often people eat heavy comfort foods to keep warm, but those are not so great for staying slim and can leave you feeling sluggish and low energy. Did you know that incorporating spices can help keep you warm. Ever break a sweat eating spicy food? Incorporating ginger, cayenne pepper, chilis, green curry paste, etc., to your delicious, clean and light meals can make a huge impact in keeping you warm during the cold months. Also, these spices can help support a healthy metabolism. Know what else supports your metabolism? Sea vegetables. I'm not talking about your standard seaweed salad from the sushi restaurant. I'm referring to the dried sea vegetables found in the Asian section of your local health food store. Sea vegetables correspond to the winter season and to the kidneys, adrenal glands, bladder and reproductive organs. The strengthening, balancing and cleansing properties of sea vegetables are known to help these organs as well as the hair, skin and nails. Sea vegetables provide a variety of minerals and vitamins, including calcium, iron and iodine, and can help balance hormone and thyroid levels in the body, hence supporting your metabolism. Adding kelp, arame or wakame, to name a few, to your meals boosts added benefit and nutrients. Just soak for a few minutes, chop them up, and throw them in soups, stir fries, salads, whatever! People often ask me if  sea veggies make food taste fishy. Occasionally, you'll taste a very light hint of salt, because they grow in the ocean, but they are not fishy at all.
